Mini Gangster

Kong Kong related this story to Mama:

"Last time, where I stayed, I was in a something like a streetgang."

[How old were you?] "Not very old, I think I was about 9-10 years old. I used to have a bicycle chain as a weapon.

You see, where we stayed, we 'ruled' the whole street. You understand or not, our street is OUR street. No other kid can come into OUR street and play. We used to hide our weapons at strategic locations. And there would be a special signal if some boy was spotted in our street. Everybody will go and take their weapons and be prepared to fight.

One day, a boy wandered into our street. I heard the signal and I quickly ran to the spot where I hid my bicycle chain. We all 'ganged' up and walked to the boy, asking if he wanted to fight or not. If he didn't, he should go away. This was OUR street!

The boy, of course ran away. But we thought that this boy would bring his gang, so we waited for them."

[Did he come back] "No..he didn't."

[Did any adult scold you for being so naughty] "No..no adult knew about it."

*guffaws guffaws guffaws*

Stuck in the mud

Kong Kong related this story to Mama:

"When I was about 8 or 9, my 3rd Aunty took care of me. At that time, we lived in a coffeeshop, near Weld Quay. I was very bored one day and decided to swim in the Quay. So, I ran across the road and jumped right into the water. I didn't realise this but, it was quite deep. As my feet sank into the black mud, I realised that it was sinking deeper and deeper. By that time, I was already underwater, although I was standing.

At first, I panicked. But luckily had the presence of mind to kneel down and dig my feet out with my hands [starts showing Mama how it was done]. When my feet were freed, I quickly swam out and walked back to the coffeeshop. I cleaned myself up and half an hour later, I got a fever. I think it was from the shock. I don't know. I almost died. So naughty huh?"

[laughs outloud]
